Medium to Ghost (to Medium)

I've been writing on Medium for about a year or so, but after they announced changes to their partner program, I thought I'd take another look at some alternatives.

I've been a happy customer of BlueHost for almost 20 years now. I've hosted several sites on there when I was okay spending my waking hours maintaining and tweaking every little thing. But now, I realized I REALLY don't want to worry about deploying my own Wordpress site, finding a theme, keeping it up to date etc, handling comment spam, etc etc etc.

I still wanted the Medium-esque writing experience, which lead me to look at a couple of alternatives.

Superblog.ai was almost the winner. It checked all the boxes. I could really have been happy with it. But, then I found Ghost.

Ghost provides all the same writing capabilities, but also makes memberships and growing an online presence/community so much easier. So...even though I don't expect to be writing hundreds of articles, and earning thousands of extra dollars on the side from views, this still seemed like the right choice (just in case).

Ghost provides a comparison to Medium, which helped seal the deal.

So now, I will write first on this site (techupover.com) and syndicate it to Medium (or anywhere else i discover along the way). I'll be able to share links to my content with friends without a paywall (yes, I know medium provides a friend link).

So, that's it. If you're reading this on techupover.com, welcome! If you're reading this on usaussie.medium.com, that's cool too...the syndication works!
